Many people reminisce about the time they got to meet a beloved childhood celebrity. What about the kids who were stuck at the end of the line and missed out?

When you were a kid, did you try to meet a celebrity you loved at an event? Did the wait turn endless? Were you and many others turned away because too many eager kids showed up? You may be entitled to compensation… Just kidding about that last part.

Even years later, my mother still carries a grudge about The Six Million Dollar Man…

It All Started With the Six Million Dollar Man…

In the 1970s, The Six Million Dollar Man was one of my favorite shows. I had a crush on its main character, Steve Austin. But more importantly, I loved watching him run — along with the famous sound effects. Maybe because I was a terrible runner — so watching Steve Austin run on bionic legs was the best wish fulfillment possible. Watching Steve Austin do superhero things, like fending off robots and meeting Bigfoot, was also cool. I even had The Six Million Dollar Man action figure — he got to date my Barbie.

I wasn’t the only one. Lee Majors, the actor who played Steve Austin, was extremely popular with fans of all ages…
