The “Panhandler Murder” That Wasn’t: The Husband Did It!

It’s bad enough to kill your wife and drag your daughter into it. Blaming the murder on panhandlers makes it more galling. That’s what happened in Baltimore in 2018.

The “panhandler murder” made the national news, but you may not have heard the truth: the victim was murdered by her husband. Many news outlets didn’t give the truth the same frenzied coverage.

The Lies

You probably heard the fake story about this murder. On December 1, 2018, Jacquelyn Smith, a resident of the Holly Woods area of Aberdeen, Maryland, was murdered in Baltimore. Her husband, Keith Smith claimed the following happened: He took his wife and his daughter Valeria (Jacquelyn’s stepdaughter) out to an American Legion hall in West Baltimore. Later, they drove by a panhandling couple with a baby. Through an open car window, Jacquelyn gave them some money. The panhandlers stole her necklace and wallet and stabbed her through the open window.
