On December 27, 2014, Tom Palermo was riding his bicycle on Roland Avenue in Baltimore when he was struck fatally by a motorist. Later, we’d learn the driver was Heather Cook, an Episcopalian bishop.

The Death of Tom Palermo

Thomas (Tom) Palermo should be known as a software engineer who worked for Johns Hopkins Hospital who also made custom bike frames on the side. And as a husband and a father. Instead, he is remembered because he was killed in a hit-and-run crash on December 27, 2014. He was mourned by his fellow cyclists.

In September 2015, Tom Palermo’s last custom bike frame was put on display as part of the 22nd Tour du Port, a cycling event in Baltimore. A Tom Palermo Memorial Ride was also held in 2016.
