A Brief Introduction to Colleen Hoover
Author Colleen Hoover (also known as “CoHo” to her fans) is a force to be reckoned with in bookselling and hugely popular with her devoted fans. Her best-selling novel, It Ends With Us, is about a woman in an abusive relationship — and how she gets out of that relationship (and about her troubled childhood). Colleen Hoover insists that it’s woman’s fiction and not romance — but many fans read it as a romance, and it often shows up in the romance section of bookstores. So does the sequel, It Starts With Us.
In early 2023, one of Colleen Hoover’s publishers announced the publication of The Official It Ends With Us Coloring Book. Colleen Hoover posted about it on social media — and then removed the announcement after getting flak.
People kept pointing out that basing an adult coloring book on a novel about domestic violence was a very bad idea. Before long, the publisher made a statement, and Colleen Hoover herself announced that the project had been canceled.
