It All Started With the Six Million Dollar Man…
In the 1970s, The Six Million Dollar Man was one of my favorite shows. I had a crush on its main character, Steve Austin. But more importantly, I loved watching him run — along with the famous sound effects. Maybe because I was a terrible runner — so watching Steve Austin run on bionic legs was the best wish fulfillment possible. Watching Steve Austin do superhero things, like fending off robots and meeting Bigfoot, was also cool. I even had The Six Million Dollar Man action figure — he got to date my Barbie.
I wasn’t the only one. Lee Majors, the actor who played Steve Austin, was extremely popular with fans of all ages…
